I have always devoured good travel blogs. The best ones are funny, personable and you feel like you really know the writer. The stories inspire you and the travels make you want to go explore yourself. I have always found immense pleasure in reading the travel blogs I mentioned below. So here is my list of the best travel blogs everyone should read.
Roads & Kingdoms
This inspiring blog is run by the most creative groups of creators. They have articles that completely capture your soul – The Last Glass Blowers of Herat, The Journals of Sugar Boy Yuki, The Mud Mosque of Mali. I adore reading their content because of how unique and well written it is. I aspire to write such thought provoking and impactful articles one day.
Maptia
The mission at Maptia is to foster empathy through storytelling. And their storytelling is amazing. With articles like Keepers of Ganesh: The Vanishing Art of Mahout, The Kangaroo Society and short 7 day stories delivered to your inbox I always come back hungry for more. The mahout blog was a personal favorite where the deep relationship between an elephant and their caretaker was beautifully told.
Local Adventurer
One of my favorite travel blogs to follow in the US, this couple writes about the local things to do in each city in the US. From the Top 50 Places to Eat in every city, extensive hiking guides & 101 Places to Visit in the US they are my go to blog for traveling in the US. They are the one stop shop for everything related to traveling in the US.
Bucket Listly
Peter at Bucket Listly is my favorite video content creator. His blog is focused around visual elements that are so gorgeous you have to see for yourself. They capture the soul of each country so beautifully you feel as if you had visited the place yourself. I lam always looking forward to when the next blog will be released. He is one of the most underrated bloggers out there.
World of Wanderlust
Brooke Seward at WOW is THE blogger who inspired me to start my own blog. I found her in college 3 years ago and I loved her story so much, I sat down and designed my blog that year. She has a gorgeous blog with beautiful colors, stories and my favorite – her staycation reviews of properties around the world which are so pretty. My top blog to read everyday.
Journey Era
Jackson Groves was my inspiration for starting my weekly series and keeping accountability. He is extremely candid about his journey into travel blogging and his passion shines through his blogs. You can clearly see that he is an amazing writer and very well versed in story telling. The best part about his blog are his weekly summary post where he tells of all that happened in his previous week. I love checking out what new stuff he is up to every week.
Honestly WTF
I loved the blog at first because of it’s name. And then because of the amazing insights into specific places that Erica writes about. Erica does highlight blog posts about every hotel, restaurant and place she visit which is very refreshing from the typical “things to do in X” blogs that are so common these days. I love finding out new cool places in a city from her blog!
Hey Nadine
Nadine was one of the first vloggers I started following on Youtube and her travel blog is no less. She is now a mom of an adorable baby but she still shares her stories often. She has traveled extensively across the world with her husband and by herself and I consider her blog the holy grail when it comes to deciding on a place. Her travel blog is also a place where I get a lot of my visual inspiration from since she always seems to know the best photo places.
The Blonde Abroad
There is no one that doesn’t know Kiki’s blog. She is one of the OG travel bloggers and it is one of my goals to do a guest post for her. She has traveled to over 71 countries and has such amazing in depth guides for them I am always left dissatisfied that I’m not taking proper notes when I travel π. I love her blog for it teaches me to write better and how to be a good story teller and travel blogger. Always check out her guides before going to any city, she’ll save you loads of time.
Atlas and Boots
This curious blog is an award-winning outdoor travel blog writing about places I’ve never even heard. You going to a village far in the countryside of eastern Europe? Yes they will have a trekking guide about it. You want to know about whales in Tongva (where even is Tongva)? Bingo they have it! They have mapped the outdoors down to the last leaves and it shows on their amazing blog.
