I started my blog back a few months before covid hit after having been insanely inspired by Jackson Groves blog – Journey Era. His weekly series is one that I have been following avidly for a long time now. I have been less than consistent on my own blogging and I promised myself that when I got to Bali I would start a weekly series myself to keep myself accountable about working on my blog. This is the very first article of that series. I plan to publish every Monday about the last week.

Last week was my first week in Bali. I had planned on taking the first few days easy and just resting and then beginning to get into a routine. Now I am firmly in a routine and it feels great.

The few important sites we have visited in Bali till now are the Uluwatu temple, Tanah Lot temple and explored a bit of Canggu. I made a huge list of places I wanted to visit in Bali but accidentally booked the first four weeks in a hotel in Kuta which is too far from all the interesting places like Ubud, Uluwatu, Canggu and the north and east of the island.

Uluwatu temple was a day trip from Kuta last Sunday where we visited Suluban beach (massive disappointment) and then saw the temple and the Kecak dance at sunset. Suluban beach was incredibly small at high tide and filled with people. You could not even spread a towel to sit down.

Tanah Lot was another day trip this Saturday. I had initially planned on going to Body Factory Bali for a few hours but I got done quicker than expected so after having lunch at Crate Cafe, I decided to ride on the scooter up to Tanah Lot Temple. The temple is less prettier than the one at Uluwatu and I got a lot more scammy vibes from two guys asking to pay money to see a “sacred snake” between the rocks. If it wasnt a real snake then what were they even showing and if it was a real snake then I would not assume that there was no animal cruelty going on.

The most fun part of the day at Canggu was my first time at Body Factory Bali. I had seen this gym in the stories of so many creators on Instagram that I was excited to try it myself. Having never been in a super hot jacuzzi or an ice bath, it was mad fun to try and get in those the first time. After the first time the pain becomes much less each subsequent time.

That was the first week in Bali. Let’s see what the next week has to offer. I’m excited to try surfing at Kuta beach tomorrow. Hopefully I haven’t lost all my skills.

So thank you to Jackson Groves for setting me on this path and hopefully someday in the future I will be an amazing travel blogger like you.
