Bali is a beautiful island in the southern Indian Ocean and more than 3 million visitors go to visit the island every year. Bali is in southeast Asia and it uses the same electrical power outlets on the entire island. A lot of people get to Bali and realize they don’t have the correct Bali power adapter and they are unable to charge or have to buy a new Bali electrical adapter. This article has all the information you need about the Bali powerpoint plug and what kind of power socket is used on the island.

Different between power supply and plug type

The power supply is the measurement of electricity that is flowing through the socket when you turn it on. In Bali and most southeast Asian countries, the power supply is at 230V and 50Hz frequency.

The plug type indicates what kind of pins will fit into the power socket. There are many plug types and you have to make sure your charger will fit into the Bali powerpoint plug.

Bali electrical plug power supply

The voltage of the plugs in Bali is 230V which is similar to a lot of countries in southeast Asia. Most countries in Asia use anything between 220V to 240V. 230V is the most common power socket supply. For Bali the plug has a supply of 230V at 50Hz frequency.

These voltages are completely different to western countries like the USA and Europe. This means if you don’t have the correct Bali electrical adapter you are at risk for damaging your devices. Your device might malfunction or not charge at all.

Bali electrical plug type

It is possible that your country has the same power supply if you live in Asia. But be careful that your charger will fit into the powerpoint plug in Bali. You need your charger to be compatible both with the Bali power supply voltage and the plug type.

Bali uses the Type C and Type F plug types. The Type C plug point has 2 round pins. The Type F plug point also has 2 round pins with 2 earth clips on the side. They are essentially the same and you can use either of these in Bali. There are times when Type F cannot fit into Type C plugs because they are two big so you should carry a Type C.

What plug adapter do I need for Indonesia?

You need a plug adapter that converts any type of plug (Type A, Type B etc) into Type C and has a voltage rating of 230V with 50Hz frequency. There are lots of companies that sell universal power adapters now. These are the best ones to buy because you can use them in multiple countries without having to carry a separate power adapter for each country.

Does my country have the same plug point as Bali?

If you are from Germany, South Korea, Italy, Sweden or Russia then your charger is already compatible with Bali and you dont need to buy an adapter.

Do I need to buy a plug point?

If you are from any country not mentioned above then you will need to buy a Bali power adapter. This is crucial to make sure you don’t burn out your devices or not be able to charge them.
