I have been back in Bali for a week now. This is not an exploration trip. It’s about surfing, working and working out. I came to Bali at the end of February and will be returning to India on April 1st. I have decided to stay the entire time in Canggu because of its good vibrant culture and easy access to surf. After last time I am pretty much over Kuta and do not want to return there.
In Canggu I have been staying at Umah Anyar for the past 8 days. This new hotel is so gorgeous and exactly what I wanted in my Airbnb. I would actually have preferred to stay here my whole time. It’s so close to the beach, and the rooms are decorated so well.
In Canggu I went surfing the second day after I arrived and caught some sick waves. Turns out a 3 month hiatus does not destroy your surf skills though a 10 month one does. I wonder what the break point for losing surf skills is…
Unfortunately for me, after the second day surfing I slipped on the stairs and sprained my ankle and couldn’t walk for 3 days. Then I got sick for 3 more days. So I haven’t been surfing at all since that day. Today I am finally feeling good and my foot is less sensitive than the other days so I will be going surfing in the evening. The forecast looks really good for today so I am very excited.
This trip to Bali has been much better than the last one. This trip, being alone and feeling safe in my room has done wonders for my soul. Being so near the ocean after 3 months, being able to eat any food I want, sleep as late as I want, and watch any movie I want has felt so refreshing.
Bali definitely is a place I want to keep returning to. I now know why so many people come to Canggu and never leave. It’s hard to resist this place. I still have 3 more weeks left here and I plan on spending everyday surfing and working as hard as I can.
