It is a perfect place for nature lovers and adventure seekers who want to explore Bali’s stunning natural beauty. Kanto Lampo is definitely a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Ubud.

How to Get to Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Scooter

Renting a scooter is a popular and cheap way to explore Bali. You can rent a scooter for a day, which typically costs around IDR 60,000 – IDR 80,000. I usually found that if you rented for a longer time the price tended to be lower.

Local taxi

Private taxis are widely available in Bali, and you can easily hire one to take you to Kanto Lampo Waterfall but you really don’t need it because it’s so close. You should instead use Gojek or Grab. These are Ubers in Indonesia. You can choose to ride on a scooter behind the driver. I am sure the drivers accept rides on scooters from Ubud to Kanto Lampo Waterfall.

Rent a car and driver

Renting a car can be a comfortable and convenient option, especially if you’re traveling with a group. You can rent a car for around IDR 800,000 – IDR 1,200,000 (approximately USD 55 – USD 85) for a full day. This will include drop off and pick up for your car at your hotel and they include the cost for the drivers.

Directions to Kanto Lampo Waterfall

From Ubud

  1. First, you need to get to the town of Gianyar in Bali. You can do this by taking a taxi or renting a motorbike/car.
  2. From Gianyar, head towards the village of Beng in the Sukawati district. The waterfall is located around 8 kilometers northeast of Gianyar.
  3. Once you reach Beng, look for signs directing you towards Kanto Lampo waterfall. You will need to turn left at the sign and follow the road for around 1 kilometer.
  4. At the end of the road, you will need to park your vehicle and walk down a set of stairs to reach the waterfall.
  5. Once you reach the waterfall, you can swim in the pool at the base of the falls or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Best Time to Visit

During the dry season (April to October), the waterfall is usually less crowded, making it a great time to visit. The water is also very calm during this time. If you want to avoid the crowds, always get to any waterfall before the other people arrive.

During rainy season the flow of the water is very strong and I don’t prefer this. It becomes harder to enjoy yourself. On the upside there are very few people and everything is green and blooming.

Entry Fee and Timings

The entry fee for Kanto Lampo Waterfall is IDR 20,000 per person for adults as of December 2022. The fee may be slightly different now, so it’s best to bring some cash and be prepared to pay a small fee upon arrival.

The waterfall is typically open from around 8am to 5pm every day, but it’s always a good idea to check the hours of operation beforehand, as they may vary depending on the season or weather conditions.

Experience at Kanto Lampo Waterfall

The hike to Kanto Lampo Waterfall is very short and easy. The waterfall is very close to the parking lot so I didn’t have to walk a lot. There were some steep stairs that I had to go down to reach the waterfall but that was basically it.

Once I reach the bottom of the stairs, I was greeted with the stunning view of the waterfall cascading down the rocks. The waterfall is surrounded by Bali jungle and there were lots of rocks to sit on.

If you’re a water lover, you can swim in the pool at the base of the waterfall. The water is cool and fresh. This was my favorite part about visiting the waterfall!

After an hour splashing in the water and eating my sandwich, I decided to climb back up the stairs to return to the parking area. All in all it only took me 1.5 hours to do the whole waterfall and without even getting tired!

Kanto Lampo River and Cave

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is located in a river valley, and there is a small river that runs alongside the waterfall. The river is very shallow and fun place to enjoy a picnic. I went here to eat my sandwich after swimming in the waterfall.

There is also a small cave near the base of the waterfall. The cave is a short walk from the waterfall and you can reach it by following a narrow path through the rocks. The cave is very small but a very fun place to explore. It reminded me of the Cenote caves in Mexico.

You can also explore the area around the waterfall and river, which is full of towering trees and a tiny jungle in itself. I can imagine Balinese tigers used to live here ages ago 🐯 . There are plenty of rocks and boulders to climb on and explore, making Kanto Lampo waterfall a great destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
