How to Get to Pantai Nunggalan Beach
By Scooter
Renting a scooter is a popular way to get around Bali. It’s also much cheaper than any other alternative. Scooter rentals can be found throughout Bali and they cost around IDR 60,000 to IDR 80,000 (approximately USD 3.50 to USD 5.50) per day. I’ve found that longer term rentals are usually cheaper. Local taxi
For those who prefer a hassle-free journey, local taxis like Gojek or Grab are readily available in Bali. These are Ubers for Bali. You can ask for a scooter or car depending on what you prefer. Hop into one of these comfortable rides and let the driver navigate the roads while you sit back and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
Private car charter
If you prefer a more luxurious and convenient option, renting a car with a private driver is a fantastic choice. This is a great choice for people who are traveling in bigger groups. Prices for a full day rental range from IDR 800,000 to IDR 1,200,000 (approximately USD 55 – USD 85).
Directions to Pantai Nunggalan Beach
From Canggu
Getting to Pantai Nunggalan Beach can be a bit of a challenge, as it’s located off the beaten path. The beach is situated in the village of Pecatu. To get to the beach, you’ll need to take Jalan Pantai Bingin, a narrow and winding road to the parking lot.
- From Kuta or Seminyak, take the main road to Uluwatu.
- Turn right onto Jalan Labuan Sait.
- Follow the signs to Bingin Beach.
- Look for the turnoff to Pantai Nunggalan Beach.
- Take Jalan Pantai Bingin to reach the beach.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Uluwatu is during the dry season from April to October. The good thing about Uluwatu is that even during the rainy season it tends to be drier than most of Bali.
Entry Fee and Timings
The good news is that there are no entry fees to visit Pantai Nunggalan Beach. You can come here any time of day or night, as the beach is open 24/7.
Experience at Pantai Nunggalan Beach
There is a short hike from the parking area to Pantai Nunggalan Beach. The beach is situated at the bottom of a steep cliff, so you have to descend a staircase with 500 steps to reach the sand.
The hike down can be a bit challenging but the stunning views of the ocean and surrounding cliffs make it worth it. The hike up was strenuous, and I was sweating by the time I made it back to my scooter. So glad for the gatorade at this point!
There are also some local vendors selling drinks and snacks near the parking area if you need to get some water or snacks after your hike up the stairs.
Pantai Nunggalan Shipwreck
One of the most fascinating features of Nunggalan Beach is the shipwreck located just off the shore. I noticed it as soon as I got on the beach.
The shipwreck is the rusted remains of a World War II-era cargo ship that can be seen from the beach. It is pretty interesting to look at. The colors on the shipwreck also look great against the background and make for a very pretty picture.
Swimming at Pantai Nunggalan Beach
As someone who loves spending time in the water, I was thrilled to find out that Pantai Nunggalan Beach is a great spot for swimming and snorkeling. The water at this beach is very calm and with the exception of strong winds you can clearly see lots of marine life in the water.
As with all Bali beaches, the current can be stronger further in the ocean so if you have kids it’s better to stay in shallow water.
Surfing at Pantai Nunggalan Beach
I was really excited to try surfing at Pantai Nunggalan Beach, as I had heard that it was a great spot for catching waves.
When I arrived, I could see the waves were breaking consistently. There were several surf schools nearby offering lessons and rentals. I rented a surfboard to paddle out and was able to catch some decent waves.
One thing to keep in mind when surfing at Pantai Nunggalan Beach is that there are no lifeguards on duty, so it’s important to exercise caution and only surf within your comfort level.
If you’re not a surfer, don’t worry – it’s still worth visiting Pantai Nunggalan Beach just to watch the surfers in action.
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newbie like me, Pantai Nunggalan Beach is a must-visit spot for anyone looking to catch some of Bali’s best waves.

The famous Uluwatu Temple is just a 20-minute drive from Nunggalan Beach. Uluwatu Temple is one of Bali’s most famous temples, perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There are a large number of monkeys here too who are very funny to watch.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park
This sprawling cultural park showcases Bali’s traditional art and culture. It has a range of exhibits and performances. The park is also home to the towering Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, one of the tallest in the world that you can see from as far as Canggu.
Jimbaran Bay
You can go to Jimbaran Way if you’re in the mood for fresh seafood. Here you’ll find a wide range of seafood restaurants serving freshly caught fish, prawns, and other delights.
