Ubud is a town located in the heart of Bali, Indonesia, known for its lush greenery, beautiful temples, and rich culture. It is a popular destination for travelers seeking a peaceful retreat in nature, with its serene surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. When I went to Ubud I knew about the waterfalls in the area and decided to check out a few of them. Ubud waterfalls were honestly more beautiful than I had imagined.

Some of the most popular waterfalls in Ubud include Tegenungan Waterfall, Tegenungan Waterfall, and Tukad Cepung Waterfall. There are so many things you can do at these waterfalls, from swimming and cliff jumping to hiking and photography. Visiting the waterfalls in Ubud is a perfect way to experience the natural beauty of the region and immerse oneself in nature.

1. Tegenungan Waterfall

Tegenungan Waterfall or locally known as Air Terjun Tegenungan is one of the most popular waterfalls in Ubud. It is easily accessible and is only a 30-minute drive from Ubud town. This waterfall is situated in a lush jungle setting, and its height is approximately 15 meters.

One of the unique features of Tegenungan Waterfall is its large pool at the bottom, which is perfect for swimming. This pool is larger than pools at other waterfalls and tourists have more room to spread out and enjoy themselves. You can swim in the fresh water while enjoying the stunning view of the waterfall.

There are also several vendors selling snacks and drinks, making it a great place to relax and spend the day. The swing near the waterfall is a great place to click pictures and very photogenic with the waterfall right behind the swing.

The entry fee for Tegenungan Waterfall is IDR 15,000 per person, and the opening hours are from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.

2. Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is a hidden gem located in the Gianyar Regency, a 20-minute drive from Ubud. Kanto Lampo Waterfall is not the usual waterfall dropping down from a great height. Instead, the water cascades down a series of rocks, creating a unique and beautiful flow of water.

To reach the waterfall, you have to descend a set of steep stairs. At the bottom you will see the waterfall to your right. The water flows into a shallow pool, making it an ideal spot for a refreshing dip. When I went to Kanto Lampo the water level was very low and the water looked more murky than what I would have preferred so I didn’t get in. Visitors can also take photos and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding jungle.

The entry fee for Kanto Lampo Waterfall is IDR 15,000 per person, and the opening hours are from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

3. Nungnung Waterfall

Nungnung Waterfall is located in the village of Plaga, about a 45-minute drive from Ubud. It is one of the tallest Ubud waterfalls, with a height of approximately 50 meters. To reach the waterfall, you have to descend a steep staircase with over 500 steps.

The waterfall is one gigantic rope of water flowing into the huge pool below. When you look up at the waterfall you are going to feel tiny compared to it. I would not recommend taking kids to this one just because there is a little more danger in the water here.

The entry fee for Nungnung Waterfall is IDR 20,000 per person, and the opening hours are from 7:00 am to 6:00pm.

4. Gitgit Waterfall

Gitgit Waterfall is a pretty 40 meter tall waterfall near Ubud. It is one of the most famous waterfalls in Ubud. The waterfall is surrounded by jungle everywhere, and the water flows into a pool at the bottom in front of a big rock which is a big spot for photographers.

To reach the waterfall, you have to take a short trek through a forest that takes approximately 20 minutes. The trek is very easy, but you should be prepared to walk on uneven terrain. Once you reach the waterfall, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the cascading water. You can swim right under the waterfall or you can go to the little pool at the bottom and chill there instead.

The entry fee for Gitgit Waterfall is IDR 20,000 per person, and the opening hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

A short ten minute trek is required to reach the waterfall which is very easy. When you reach the waterfall you will find a calm large pool under the waterfall and lots of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy themselves. In recent years, some tourists have opted to have weddings here as well. The waterfall is very calm and perfect for families with kids that prefer quieter destinations.

The entry fee for Tibumana Waterfall is IDR 20,000 per person, and the opening hours are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

6. Sekumpul Waterfall

Sekumpul Waterfall is 2.5 hours from Ubud. Not many people make the trip, which has kept it a clean and undiscovered waterfall near Ubud. It is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Ubud, with a height of approximately 80 meters. To reach the waterfall, you have to take a short trek through the jungle.

Once you reach the waterfall, you will be rewarded with an incredible view of the cascading water. The waterfall consists of three tall cascades of water, falling down from a dizzying height. You will immediately get drenched from the mist coming up when the water thunders down onto the rocks below.

This is one of the rare waterfalls where you need a guide that will accompany you to both the view point at the top of the waterfall and then guide you to the bottom of the waterfall. This is because the trek is dangerous in some parts and through rocks. One of the most adventurous waterfalls in Ubud in my opinion.

The entry fee for Sekumpul Waterfall is IDR 20,000 per person, and the opening hours are from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
